Today, CBS 60 Minutes did a special on Belle Harbor, Rockaways, the place we volunteered at yesterday. Belle Harbor is home to many firemen, policemen, and other public servants. Some families there had already lost loved ones during 9-11
. Now, they lost their homes and more.
This segment talks about the homes and communities that burnt down, St. Francis Church (where we volunteered at), the heroic stories of people saving lives, and memories that were either washed away by the flood waters or burnt to the ground by the fires.
Yesterday, we saw the devastation firsthand during our volunteer trip, but we also saw many strangers and locals coming together in an effort to rebuild the community. Due to the level of destruction, this effort is going to take months, and as the weather continuously grows colder, we will do what we can to help the victims and long-term volunteers.
We will do another supply delivery and volunteer trip to the Rockaways soon. Let me know if you want to help us. Our donation accounts will remain open to raise funds for the supply run. If you want to make a monetary donation, you can use QuickPay/PayPal: [email protected]
Thank you so much for all your love and support!!!
